Digital presses and direct-to-plate imaging have reduced the costs of printing by eliminating much of the up-front make-ready costs. It is now feasible to print four-color materials cost effectively in short runs of 500 and less.

In addition, the number of avenues for distributing your information have increased. Print no longer represents a comprehensive means of marketing, but rather one leg of a three part system of integrated coverage that also includes web sites and CD-ROM.
